Relevance of plasma biomarkers to imaging biomarkers

Background Recent advances in blood-based biomarkers have shown promising abilities to estimate brain pathological statuses related amyloid-β (Aβ) deposition, phosphorylated tau and neurodegeneration using minimally invasive methods. The objective of this study was evaluate the potential ATN classification, by analyzing relevance plasma imaging biomarkers. Method There were 161 subjects, consisting 62 cognitively normal (CN), 13 MCI, 40 Alzheimer’s dementia (AD) 46 non-Alzheimer’s (non-AD) individuals. Plasma Aβ composite biomarker measured immunoprecipitation-mass spectrometry assay combining ratios APP669-711/Aβ1-42 Aβ1-40/Aβ1-42. levels p-tau 181, glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) neurofilament light (NfL) SimoaⓇ platform. PiB-PET, THK5351-PET, FDG-PET structural MRI images, their representative semiquantitative values; PiB-SUVR, THK-SUVR, scores (representing degree AD-like glucose hypometabolism), VSRAD® medial temporal atrophy), respectively, used analyze relationships with Result ROC analyses showed that AUCs composite, GFAP NfL discriminate status (PiB-positive vs. negative) 0.934, 0.835, 0.720 0.583, respectively.
